Night of Fun

After having the "Ultimate Wine Dinner" at Indigo restaurant in San Francisco, Erik and I decided to hang out with some friends for Saikat's 30th birthday at Bollywood Cafe in the Mission. We were already "tipsy" (at least I was) from dinner with all-you-can-drink wine. If you haven't been to Indigo, you need to try! 3 courses (pretty good portions) and all the wine you can drink for $59/person. When we arrived at Bollywood Cafe, we noticed a Brazil flag hanging outside the door. Inside, there was samba music... where's the bollywood theme? Weird! $10 cover for the night because there was a live band. They were just OK. I thought the DJ played better music. As the night progressed, we noticed a couple making out on our couch. The girl was all over Brian's jacket. Gross! Here are some pictures from last night.

My Dad's 60th Birthday

My family and I went to R & G Lounge for dinner. We had a 10 course meal including salt and pepper dungeness crab, shark's fin soup, and lobster. It was so good! I was stuffed! Can you actually be tired of eating? Not at this place. I had a great time with my family. I know my dad was really happy to see the family together. I wished his twin brother was there to celebrate with us. He didn't want a cake but I got him one. It was small but he made a wish. That's all I wanted. Yeah! I love my family. Happy Birthday Daddy!

My Birthday Celebration

I wasn't going to do much this year. I can't really party like last year...can I? This year I just wanted to be with close friends...perhaps a small dinner. Well, Erik planned something small for me but really meaningful and memorable to me. His mom was in town this weekend and I didn't want to go crazy with his time and schedule. Anyway, he organized a small dinner party at Chouqet's in Pac Heights. Although last minute, I was surprised to see some people. We had a party of 8. Yin/Audie, Coleen, Erik's mom, Erik, and the most surprising people were Steve and Marissa. I went to college with Marissa and seeing her was awesome. She is months pregnant now. Can't wait to see her 1st child...a baby boy. Dinner was great. You can't really go wrong with French food...I had the 7-hour braised shoulder of lamb with truffel mash potatoes. OMG it was divine! Meat was so tender and flavorful. The organic salad with truffle oil was delicious!!

Next we all headed over to the District where we met up some more friends to enjoy some wine and cocktails.

The best part was this.... Erik and his mom made these cupcakes for me...Cookie Monster cupcakes!

Erik's 30th Birthday

Happy Birthday, Erik!

Erik's Birthday was celebrated on 8/23/08. I wanted to do something special for my sweetheart and I thought the only way was to give him a party. I wanted it to be intimate and special. I wanted his close friends and family to be there. A house party was perfect! To make it even more special was to surprise him. He's never had a surprise party and this was ideal. I got his mom and his aunt involved which was so much fun. I got some baby pictures of him and placed them in a collage form on a poster board which was creatively designed by my friend, Yin. Lots of planning was also done with my co-workers/friends, Vonn and Jouie. (Thank you Jouie for being so generous in letting me have a party at your house.) I also had lots of help from my girlfriends, Debbie and Carla. They were so wonderful in helping me prepare and decorate the place. So at the party, I had a bartender who served excellent drinks and we had Filipino food. everything went so well. Lots of friends, great music and food. Here are some pictures from that night.

Taco Crawl '08

On Saturday, my friends and I ventured on another taco crawl in the mission district. We had to have 1 taco and 1 beer at each taqueria. That's A LOT of tacos and beers. If people know me, I can only handle 1 beer. It takes me A LONG time to finish a bottle. Anyway, I tried. I had 3 1/2 tacos and 2 beers. I was HELLA full at the end. Hella full. 2 out of 5 taqueria did not serve alcohol. Great job with the organization, Brian.... haha. His friends almost lynched him for that :-) Well, it was a great time! I had a lot of fun!!!

I'm Back!

OK so I took over a year off from writing in my blog. I miss it. Well, my friend, Joyce, has been telling me that she's tired of reading about "Jen's celebration" which was the last entry...June '07. OK OK...got it! Here's the first entry for 2008. This is a picture of me at St. Peter's Square. Yes...I can jump that high...yippee!

Jen's Celebration at Tabu

Jen passed her dental boards and we all decided to celebrate at Tabu last night. It was a great turn-out! Many of Jen's friends showed up and we partied until they kicked us out! I haven't been to Tabu (the Old Glas Kat) in a very long time. I think the last time I was there was for Mel's bachelorette party which was 2 years ago. But we didn't even stay there long since we thought it was ghetto. Really, this place was my college party place. Things haven't really change. The crowd was on the younger side but we had all our friends there which made the night unforgettable!
CONGRATULATIONS, JEN!!!

June's Birthday Bash

We went to celebrate June's birthday this Friday at the Cellar. It was 80s night and it was soooo much fun! Haven't been at the Cellar in a long time and I forgot how much fun it was... It was still as crowded as usual but as long as you have awesome friends around.... things always turn out to be...well, CRAZY!!!
My co-workers. Can't believe Sam stopped by!
June going crazy with Brian & Ed. You go girl! Party like a rock star!
Great to party with Ed and Brian...just like back in the days...(sigh)

Thanks for your help, Tamar!

Last Thursday was my co-worker's last day at Kaiser SF. Tamar had been working at Kaiser for 8 years. Now she is moving on to a life-long dream! She's going to Cosmetology school!!! I am very happy for her. Tamar and her family helped me so much through the years. The biggest and most memorable one was when her father, Eric, helped my friends get married. He's a pastor. She and her family are awesome! Tamar did the most wonderful thing the other day....she made lunch for the whole staff. There was baked spaghetti, croissant bread pudding, spinach salad and a load of chicken wings!!! The meal was soooooo good! Thanks for everything, Tamar! Best of luck in school!

A night at Slide

Today, my friend, Stephanie, sent me this picture we took at Slide. It has been awhile since I last hung out with her. I think it was before I took off for my 4 week vacation. It was great to see her and all my other friends. I still haven't gone down that darn slide. I will one of these days....

Here are more pictures from that night. Erik was being himself and Jen was...well, you can ask her. Does she remember? :)

Union Street Festival

The Annual Union Street Festival in San Francisco. Every year thousands of people from all over the Bay Area come to enjoy this festival. There are vendors that sell unique artwork, clothes, houseware, decorations of all kinds, homemade snacks, and live music. Of course there is the variety of food that we get to grub! Lots and lots of junk food!!! I love the fried calamari with key lime sauce and the corn dog! Here are some pictures from today's event.

OK...So these were only pictures of our Mentos adventures! We had to do this to get free Mentos! Check out their website. Our picture is in it.
